So, while I liked the story, it was not believable for the time period – I did like Elinor Conley who has the far-fetched dream of becoming a lady. She is so totally naive that it is unbelievable.   These women, although not necessarily terrifying in their looks, are certainly terrifying in their abilities to enchant mortal men. With much help, Odysseus is able to resist or break free from these enchantments. Even the seemingly least threatening woman of the three, Calypso, manages to keep Odysseus detained for seven years, proving to be Author: Julia Huse.

Get this from a library. Enchanting the lady. [Kathryne Kennedy] -- In a world where magic rules everything, two misfits--Felicity Seymore, a Victorian beauty unable to perform even the simplest spell, and Sir Terence Blackwell, a were-lion searching for Merlin's.

That said, Enchanting the Lady is still a fun book, and well-worth reading. Put aside the inevitable desire to shake Terrence silly, and enjoy the good parts. As for me, I’ll be looking for Kennedy’s next book, hoping that she keeps the great imagination and adds a little logic and common sense to the mix.

Enchanting the Lady follows Felicity Seymour and Terrance Blackwell and how their lives are unexpectedly pulled together. Felicity is a duchess-heir who lost her parents at a young age and can only reclaim her family’s title if she proves her magic worthy.

Historical Romance Meets Fairy Tale Magic In a Victorian England with a rigid hierarchy of magic, lion shape-shifter Sir Terence Blackwell is at the bottom rung of society. Only Lady Felicity Seymour, who has no magic, no inheritance, and no prospects, may be willing to judge the man strictly on his.

Enchanting the Beast is the third book in the Relics of Merlin series. And based on this book, I would say this series has some of the best world building I have seen in awhile.

Linking noble titles to various types of magic is simple, but effective, and gives a lot of room for a variety of stories.5/5(5). Enchanting the Lady, Relics of Merlin is aptly named.

It is enchanting! This is the first book in a series of Relics of Merlin books and I am already hooked. Ms. Kennedy’s strong plot, intriguing characters and this inventive new twist on romance make Enchanting the Lady one of the best books I’ve read in a long time.
